Okay, so I overestimated my commitment, but here we go again. A lot has changed in the year since my first (and only) post. We added another Layton to the family tree - Calvin. Reed has taken to his baby brother just fine and it's amazing to watch them both growing so quickly. Calvin was born in October and is another good baby - like his big brother. I went back to work after Thanksgiving and it's been a whirlwind ever since! I had a student teacher in the room for a few weeks, then bid him farewell and took back over my classroom for real the same week of Reed's 2 year birthday party. The very next weekend, my ENTIRE family came out to stay in Missouri for Christmas, including my Nana and Trey's newly betrothed, Jenica. It was a great visit, followed by a few more days of fun at the Layton's. Now, we have a little under a week to recover from it all - and find a place to put all the new toys! We're still in our tiny farmhouse and that for-sale sign is STILL in the front yard, but we're not too worried about it. We just survived feeding 9 adults and 2 kids for 2 meals and don't foresee having to do that in the near future, so we can survive another year or two in this house if need be. Our current plan (as always, Lord-willing) is to build onto our garage next winter, move in, then tear down the current house. We'll see...
Ryan and I still teach in the same place. Ryan coaches the newly-formed cross country team at his school in the fall. His athletes called Reed "Little Coach" and one runner even came to see us in the hospital when Calvin was born. For the time being, Tobi isn't doing much other than being a mommy and keeping her head above water in the paper grading and lesson planning department! It's all a joy, though (well - minus the paper grading!) and we feel very blessed!
